For arrival by train, this hotel's location is perfect. It's right outside the door of the railway station! It's a historic hotel and has character, which for me didn't detract at all from the comfort. The staff are friendly and helpful above and beyond. The night I stayed was a distinctly good deal, too. The breakfast, if booked the night before, represents excellent value and I very much enjoyed it.
Nestled amid acres of private woodland and glorious gardens, this magnificent Grade II listed castle is situated on the northern edge of the Lake District, surrounded by a golf club.

The location is excellent. Parking at the rear of the building. This was our third time staying here and we wouldn’t stay anywhere else. These apartments are amazing and the little touches like milk and water to start off your stay is really good.

Dalston village is beautiful, but Carlisle Town, what we saw of it was uninspiring and unattractive.
Lots of road works , confusing road systems and busy. Not a bit like the other lake district towns.
Perhaps we hadn't seen the best of it to be fair.

Quite an underrated town.
Quite an underrated town. The castle and cathedral are very interesting, plenty of history to see. I like it most because you can quite easily travel to fantastic locations from all directions; Hadrian's wall & Newcastle to the East, Ribblehead & the Lake district to the South, the scenic Cumbrian coast to the West & the Historic Southern lowlands of Scotland to the North!

Convenience as a base to visit more of Cumbria.
Convenience as a base to visit more of Cumbria. If like me you don't drive its good to have a base with plenty of public transport to enable you to see a variety of places. Carlisle itself is easy to walk round, everything within walking distance.

I love Carlisle!
I love Carlisle!
It’s a great town with good shopping, history and nightlife
The bars and restaurants are wonderful and it’s very friendly
There is plenty of parking, it’s compact and interesting
My favourites are The Thin White Duke for drinks/food and Bocata bar for live music, atmosphere and great drinks
The flat is a 15-20 walk from the Carlisle train station but took a cab since we had luggage. The flat itself was very nice and comfortable. It had a nice kitchen, the living room was a good size and the bedrooms had comfy beds and the rooms themselves were very roomy. There is a Sainsbury 5 minutes away which was convenient and the castle was a 10 minute walk. Overall, i would highly recommend this property and would stay here again if I'm ever in Carlisle.
My go to place in Carlisle. I like to support local businesses rather than the chain hotels where possible. Always clean and never had any problems. Had an ensuite room which was good. Always good value. Close to city centre and on a quiet street with two pubs round the corner, but never had any external noise disturbance even with the windows open. Free WiFi in room.
Brilliant location right near the centre of Carlisle, hosts were friendly, room was perfect, lots of space comfortable bed and including homemade biscuits!
The piece de resistance is the Breakfast good selection of hot food, married with a myriad of homecooked cakes, scones and bread. Could quite easily run a café let alone a B&B!
Great location for hitting up the local watering holes, I always target a 50 pint weekend when I’m Carlisle so it’s of paramount importance that the hotel is close by the pub! This hotel ticks all the boxes staff were tremendously helpful at helping me up the stairs at 3am thanks guys. Look forward to returning in December
In theory the location is good, close to the market area. Unfortunately it is located next to several clubs which operate late into the morning. I was there on a weeknight and the music didn’t stop until 2 am.
I would recommend the place if it wasn’t for the noise, but it’s the worst I have ever encountered at any hotel.
The hotel is very close to the M6, A69 junction near Carlisle and is perfect for a stop over. The hotel is comfortable and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed on our way up for a holiday in Scotland and liked the hotel so much we did the same on our way back. Highly recommended.
The hotel is located in a relatively quiet area outside the centre of Carlisle, although it's not too far away either. The staff were very friendly and helpful and everything seemed to work as it should. Breakfast was good and included in the very reasonable overall price. Ample parking.
Lovely hotel, fabulous staff can see why it’s a wedding venue. Great location for exploring surrounding areas, Carlisle approx 3 miles away and only a couple of junctions up the M6 to Gretna Green. Hotel grounds were amazing but didn’t get the chance to enjoy them due to torrential rain
Great hotel in the heart of Carlisle. Good parking at the hotel.
Easy check in and the rooms were comfortable and clean.
There was a great choice for breakfast from pastry to a full English. Dietary needs were catered for.
The staff was friendly and the room was large and clean! It smelled fresh when I walked in. I also definitely enjoyed the convenience of walking only a couple of minutes from the train station to get to the hotel.
This is a large old hotel in downtown Carlisle close to cathedral and the castle. It is fancy and it's time but it definitely has aged. The staff were quite nice in the hotel does have a bar and restaurant.
The Victorian era building still has its values. Its basic for the needs of an over night stay. Staff supportive and friendly. I would book again for a night stop in Carlisle. Bar in the louge is a bonus
Hotel is in a small village but only a short drive from Carlisle, excellent value for the night if you don't mind staying out of the town and driving. Very friendly and helpful hotel owner.
Beautiful hotel. Rooms was very comfortable and spacious. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. couldn’t do enough for us. would definitely visit again. Breakfast excellent.
The room was not dirty.
The location was convenient to getting to Carlisle centre and there was a large car park which could be used free of charge when staying at the hotel.
fabulous hotel to stop outside Carlisle . i got there late so couldn’t fully enjoy the pool and spa but did get a swim in .
great evening meal and very comfortable room .
