Setting the Standard
Bali’s oldest beach resort retains its reputation as a glamorous alternative to nearby Kuta. The coastline of Sanur has a long stretch of white sand lined with restaurants and bars. It is tailor made for chic clientele or families wanting to relax in an exclusive resort or villa without the need to party into the wee hours.
Sanur is also a popular day trip destination for tourists staying in Kuta looking to do some water sports. There are many companies offering diving along its submerged outer reef, jet skiing on top of its blue waters or paragliding in the cool breezes above this ocean paradise.
The shoreline features a cycle path that is also perfect for walking and jogging. At its very northern tip is the ferry terminal that offers boat trips to Nusa Lembongan, a small island off the southeast coast of Bali that is famous for its laid-back atmosphere.
Sanur has its fair share of markets providing an impressive range of artistic handicrafts such as wood carvings and batik paintings. Best of these are the Sindhu Market and the daytime beachfront market.
Sanur is the closest beach to the island’s capital, Denpasar, with its many temples and museums. Booking.com has a range of hotels along Sanur Beach or close to Ngurah International Airport, also known as Denpasar International Airport.

The perfect location in Bali. Not as hectic as the east coast(Kuta to Canggu)more of a village atmosphere but still has all of the amenities. Lots of great quality inexpensive restaurants both on the beach and on Jalan Danau Tanblingan. A few cheeky nightclubs with live music. Very laid back and relaxed compared to the noise, hustle and bustle you would experience in Kuta and Legian. Less crime. Easier to get around as not a lot of traffic (scooters or motor bikes). A lot cleaner and streets are better maintained to walk around. Beach sand/water very nice not a lot of rubbish around. Locals are really lovely and friendly, there was no aggressiveness or nasty locals at all. Prices are slightly higher in Sanur compared to Kuta and Legian but not substantially higher. Bars are not filled with young drunken loafs making a nuisance of themselves. Drink and food service very efficient. Suggest Sanur best for elderly folk as less riff raff. One of the great attractions of Sanur is that it's always been a little quieter than the Kutas and Canggus etc. However the huge new shopping centre right on the beach is going to ruin that. Very disappointed that this is happening.

Sanur is a fantastic area in Bali . It has a vibrant local community feel, but with a Nusa Dusa like beach promenade. The area is ideal for riding push bikes , shopping , wandering around . I am thinking I will come again, and miss staying in Seminyak.

Everything works well though and the bed is probably the most comfortable I have had in Bali - both the mattress & pillows and the fresh linens. The private pool was great but be aware that there is little shade until late in the day. Staff were all delightfully friendly and accommodating. The rooms are away from the road so are very quiet. The hotel is just a block from great restaurants on the beach.

One of the things I particularly liked was the prompt refill of complimentary drinks that were offered. The hotel staff was attentive and ensured that we never ran out of water or coffee. Another aspect that stood out to me was the exceptional housekeeping service. They did an excellent job of making the bed and keeping the room tidy.
